A tragic road accident on NH-531 in Bihar’s Saran district resulted in the loss of three lives. The incident involved a head-on collision between a speeding truck and an auto-rickshaw near Purab Sonia Bridge at 5:00 a.m. The identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed.
The collision occurred when a truck traveling at high speed from Siwan collided with the auto-rickshaw carrying three individuals from Chhapra to Ekma. The impact was severe, causing critical injuries to the occupants as the auto-rickshaw was completely mangled.
Following the accident, police promptly arrived at the scene and transferred the injured to the Community Health Centre in Ekma. Unfortunately, one victim passed away en route to the hospital, while the other two succumbed to their injuries at Sadar Hospital in Chhapra.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, seizing both the truck and the damaged auto-rickshaw. Local residents found musical instruments in the auto-rickshaw, prompting speculation about the victims’ possible association with a cultural or musical group. However, details are being verified before any confirmation is made.
Despite the severity of the collision, the CNG-powered auto-rickshaw did not catch fire or explode, potentially averting a more disastrous outcome. An FIR has been lodged against the negligent truck driver, who is currently on the run, under relevant sections of rash and negligent driving at Daudpur police station.
The bodies of the deceased have been kept in the mortuary by district police, who are working to identify them and notify their families about the tragic incident. This accident underscores the ongoing safety concerns regarding Bihar’s roads, particularly during nighttime or early morning travel.
