Three pilgrims from the same family lost their lives in a devastating road accident near Bhanapura in Karnataka’s Koppal district. The incident occurred when a truck veered across the road divider and collided with their car on National Highway-63. The deceased individuals have been identified as Kenchamma Balekayi (35), Amruta Kotyal (25), and Ramesh Ballari (45), all residents of Kabbar village in Haveri district.
The tragic accident also left two other passengers in critical condition, with four additional occupants of the vehicle sustaining serious injuries. The injured have been rushed to Koppal District Hospital for urgent medical care. Initial investigations point to an Ashok Leyland truck crossing lanes and crashing into the victims’ vehicle.
Former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP MP from Haveri, Basavaraj Bommai, expressed deep sorrow over the heartbreaking incident. He extended condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to those injured. Bommai urged the state government to promptly provide adequate compensation to the affected families and ensure the injured receive necessary medical attention and support.
