Three workers lost their lives in a tragic industrial accident at a private textile factory in the RIICO industrial area of Balotra. The incident took place during cleaning work in a sludge tank at the factory. It is suspected that the workers were exposed to toxic gases inside the tank, leading to their sudden health deterioration and subsequent deaths.
The deceased workers, identified as Gumanaram (30), Shravan (25), and Vishambhar (54), were engaged in the cleaning operation when the unfortunate incident occurred. Following the incident, a large number of family members and locals gathered at the Nahata District Hospital, where the workers were pronounced dead by doctors after being rushed there.
The news of the deaths spread rapidly in the area, causing tension as grieving relatives sought answers, resulting in a road blockade outside the hospital mortuary. Senior administrative and police officials arrived at the scene to manage the situation and gather information about the sequence of events. The bodies have been moved to the mortuary for post-mortem examinations, and an investigation into the accident has been initiated by the police.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the workers may have suffocated due to inhaling toxic gases while inside the tank. Authorities are expected to look into the safety protocols followed during the cleaning operation at the factory. This incident has reignited concerns about industrial safety practices in factories operating in the region.
