Ticket sales for the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup in England have exceeded the total sales for the 2017 event, indicating the rising popularity of women’s cricket. England is set to host the 10th edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in June and July, with over 100,000 tickets already sold five months before the opening match on June 12. In 2017, the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup final at Lord’s, won by England, was a sell-out, marking a milestone for women’s sports in a traditionally male-dominated field.
The upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will feature the largest number of teams yet, with 12 teams competing for the coveted trophy. The teams will be divided into two groups, with Group 1 including Australia, South Africa, India, Pakistan, and two Global Qualifier teams. Group 2 comprises England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and two more Global Qualifier teams. The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals, scheduled for June 30 and July 2 at The Oval, culminating in the final at Lord’s on July 5.
This tournament, spanning 24 days, will host 33 matches across seven renowned venues in England. The Global Qualifier event, taking place in Kathmandu, Nepal, from January 18 to February 1, will determine the final four teams to compete in England and Wales. New Zealand currently holds the T20 World Cup title, having emerged victorious in 2024 by defeating South Africa in the final.
