Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma, founder-chief of the Tipra Motha Party (TMP), stated that there will be no collaboration with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections. The polling for the 30-member TTAADC, a significant political event, is set for April 12, with vote counting on April 17.
Debbarma emphasized the necessity of visible progress on the tripartite agreement signed two years ago for any electoral understanding to take place. He highlighted the importance of turning commitments into actions rather than mere assurances. The TMP and BJP leaders engaged in discussions in New Delhi to finalize a seat-sharing arrangement for the elections.
Describing the TTAADC elections on April 12 as a crucial political showdown, Debbarma positioned the polls as a mandate on identity, rights, and the future of the indigenous Tiprasa community. Asserting his dedication to the indigenous people, he vowed not to compromise or succumb to pressure, emphasizing the demonstration of electoral strength through democratic processes.
