Today’s Chanakya, a poll psephology entity, has released its exit poll projections for the two-phase Assembly elections in West Bengal. The predictions suggest a clear majority for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), potentially ending the 15-year rule of the Trinamool Congress in the state. According to Today’s Chanakya, BJP candidates are expected to win in around 192 Assembly constituencies out of the total 294 seats.
The exit poll projections also indicate that the ruling Trinamool Congress is likely to secure victory in approximately 100 seats. Additionally, the combined tally of other parties, including the Congress and the Left Front–All India Secular Front alliance, is estimated to range between zero and two seats. In terms of percentage vote share, the BJP is projected to have around 48%, while the Trinamool Congress is expected to secure about 38% of the votes. Other parties are predicted to hold approximately 14% of the vote share.
Following the conclusion of the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly polls, various poll and psephology entities have released their exit poll predictions. Most agencies have forecasted a close contest between the BJP and the Trinamool Congress. However, Today’s Chanakya and the Praja Polls survey stand out as the only two agencies predicting a clear majority for the BJP. Praja Polls projects the BJP to lead with a tally of 178 to 208 seats, while the Trinamool Congress is expected to secure between 85 and 110 seats, with other parties likely to win two to three seats.
The two-phase Assembly elections in West Bengal were held on April 23 and April 29, with the results scheduled to be announced on May 4.
