A tragic incident in Karnataka’s Udupi district claimed the life of a one-and-a-half-year-old boy. While being carried by his mother, a coconut fell from a tree, striking the child on the head. Despite immediate efforts to save him, the toddler succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Manipal.
The boy, identified as Daksha, was with his mother on her way to drop off his elder brother at school. The sudden accident left the entire village of Heranjalu in grief, with residents mourning the loss. Brahmavar Police have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
In a similar unfortunate event in the region, a 3-year-old boy recently died after getting locked inside a parked car’s boot and suffocating. The incident, which occurred in Tonasanahalli (S) village of Shahabad taluk in Kalaburagi district, left the community in shock. The child, Basavaprabhu, was discovered dead inside the car after a search by family members.
Tragedies involving young children have also been reported in other parts of Karnataka. A 2.5-year-old boy drowned in Bengaluru after falling into an uncovered water sump while his father was washing a car. Additionally, a 2-year-old boy in Mahadevapura lost his life after falling off a two-wheeler and being run over by a car due to a bad road stretch. Another heartbreaking incident involved a 3-year-old girl who died when a tempo ran over her after she fell from a motorcycle that was stopped abruptly by traffic police.
