World champion Meenakshi, former world champion Nikhat Zareen, and other top boxers will participate in the Elite Men and Women National Boxing Championships at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida from January 4-10. This event marks the first time the Men’s and Women’s National Championships will be held concurrently at the same venue. Indian boxing has been excelling on the global stage, with boxers performing well in international competitions. The Nationals offer a platform for both established boxers and newcomers to showcase their skills and contend for spots in the National team for upcoming events like the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games. Ajay Singh, President of the Boxing Federation of India, emphasized the significance of this tournament for the boxers.
Notable participants in the Nationals include world champion Jaismine, Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain, and other medalists like Pooja Rani, Parveen, Nitu Ghanghas, Preeti Pawar, Hitesh, Sachin, Abhinash Jamwal, Narender Berwal, and Amit Panghal. The Nationals will see a maximum of 10 male and 10 female boxers from each member association. Boxers who competed in the World Boxing Cup Finals in Noida in November 2025 have secured direct entry into the Nationals. Eligibility is limited to boxers born between January 1, 1985, and December 31, 2006.
All Olympic weight category medalists will be invited to the national camp, while only gold and silver medalists from non-Olympic weight categories will join the camp post the Nationals.
