Sachin Yadav, who impressed with a fourth-place finish at the 2025 Tokyo World Athletics Championships, is eager to kick off his 2026 season strongly on home turf after a successful previous season.
In the men’s javelin event, a thrilling contest awaits as top Indian javelin throwers like Shivam Lohakare, Kishore Kumar Jena, and Rohit Yadav, alongside Sachin Yadav, gear up to test their preparations before the upcoming domestic competition in May. Two-time Asian Games champion Tajinderpal Singh Toor is also aiming to enhance his performance in the event.
The men’s 100m dash promises an exciting showdown with star sprinters like Animesh Kujur, Gurindervir Singh, Tamil Arasu S, Pranav Pramod Gurav, and Harsh Santosh Raut vying for top honors. National record holder Vishal TK will be the center of attention in the men’s mile event, having set a remarkable national record time last year.
Muhammed Ajmal, a key member of the national 4x400m relay squad, is set to make a comeback after recovering from an injury last season. The Indian Open Series, now in its third leg in Delhi following Bengaluru and Jaipur, has garnered significant interest, ensuring a packed schedule from morning till evening.
The day’s events will kick off with the men’s 10,000m track race at 6 a.m., culminating with the men’s 1500m race at 8:10 p.m. Participants will compete in different categories, including seniors and juniors, with all races being finals.
