India’s top shooters are set to participate in the National Rifle Association of India’s Selection Trials 4 for Group ‘A’ shooters in rifle and pistol events at the Trishul Shooting Range in Dehradun from June 6 to June 10. This event holds significant importance as it will determine the squad for the upcoming ISSF World Cup in Hangzhou, China, and the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, based on NRAI’s selection policy.
The competition, limited to 30 participants across Rifle, Pistol, and Shotgun disciplines for the Asian Games, requires shooters to excel in multiple events to secure a spot in the squad. The first event in the trials is the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men Stage 1, with finals for this event and the 10m Rifle events scheduled for Monday.
Suraj Sharma, a young talent who recently debuted in the senior World Cup in Munich, leads the rankings in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol event. He is followed by Anish Bhanwala and Vijayveer Sidhu in second and third place, with Bhavesh Shekhawat, Omkar Singh, and Udhayveer Sidhu following closely in the rankings.
The schedule for the Selection Trials 4 includes various events such as the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Stage 1, 10m Air Rifle Men and Women Finals, 25m Pistol Women Precision Stage, 25m Pistol Women Rapid Stage and Final, 10m Air Pistol Men and Women Finals, and the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men and Women Finals, among others.
