In a separate unfortunate event, a private tuition academy roof collapse in Lahore’s Kahna area resulted in the deaths of 14 children and injuries to several others. Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazeer confirmed the death toll and mentioned that approximately 20 individuals, including the deceased children, were trapped under the debris. Rescue operations successfully retrieved the victims, with some survivors admitted to Lahore General Hospital in critical condition.
The Human Rights Council (HRC) of Pakistan has raised concerns over the safety standards of such establishments, blaming the lack of proper inspections for the tragic incidents. The HRC emphasized the need for stringent safety measures to prevent further loss of innocent lives due to structural failures.
