A tragic road accident in Bihar’s Aurangabad district resulted in the deaths of three pilgrims and left over 20 others injured. The incident occurred when a tourist bus carrying devotees from Andhra Pradesh collided with a truck on the Grand Trunk Road. The collision was so intense that it tore apart one side of the bus.
Around 40 pilgrims were on their way from Bodh Gaya to Varanasi when the accident happened. Initial reports suggest that the bus driver was trying to overtake a truck when the collision occurred. The deceased individuals have been identified as Hazratayya, Padmavati, and Pashuleti Venkatesh, all hailing from Sangama village in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district.
Doctors at Aurangabad Sadar Hospital confirmed the deaths of the three victims upon their arrival. More than 20 passengers sustained injuries in the accident, with some in critical condition. The injured were provided with initial treatment at Sadar Hospital before being referred to Magadh Medical College and Hospital in Gaya for further medical attention.
Local residents and passersby rushed to the accident site to assist in rescue operations before the authorities arrived. The incident briefly disrupted traffic on NH-19, but normal movement resumed after the wreckage was cleared. Both the bus and the truck involved in the accident have been seized by the authorities for investigation.
Police are examining various factors, including the bus’s speed and the driver’s actions, to determine the cause of the accident. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination, and their families have been notified. Legal procedures are currently underway in response to the tragic incident.
