A potentially disastrous situation was narrowly avoided in Udaipur when two tourists found themselves stranded mid-air on a zip-line ride. The incident took place at Dudh Talai near Lake Pichola, leaving the tourists hanging about 70 feet above the ground. Thanks to the quick response of the rescue team, both individuals were safely rescued within two-and-a-half minutes.
The tourists involved in the incident were four friends from Gujarat named Sunil, Alpesh, Rithvik, and Sumit who were on a vacation in Udaipur. They had decided to try the zip-line ride at Dudh Talai, which spans approximately 630 meters between Deendayal Park and Manikyalal Verma Park. Normally, the ride lasts about 45 seconds.
During the ride, one pair of friends was close to the endpoint when sudden weather changes caused strong winds, halting their progress. Stranded mid-air, the tourists were in distress and called for help. The on-site rescue team sprang into action promptly, equipped with safety gear, and successfully brought the stranded tourists back to safety.
The zip-line operator, Sharad Agarwal, attributed the incident to unexpected weather changes and strong winds. He emphasized the presence of a well-trained rescue team on-site to handle emergencies efficiently. Agarwal highlighted the safety measures in place, including providing riders with protective gear and conducting regular emergency drills to ensure preparedness.
The zip-line facility at Dudh Talai, launched in October 2025, has gained popularity as an adventure attraction in Udaipur. This incident underscores the significance of adhering to safety protocols and maintaining emergency readiness at adventure tourism destinations.
