A tragic incident unfolded near a large bridge in Mahidpur when a 14-year-old boy and his 25-year-old uncle lost their lives while attempting to retrieve a fallen slipper from the Shipra River. The boy, Ayush, accidentally dropped his slipper into the river and jumped in to recover it, but the strong current proved fatal for him.
Ayush’s uncle, Asaram, witnessing his nephew’s struggle, bravely leaped into the river in an attempt to rescue him. Despite their efforts, both individuals succumbed to the force of the water, leading to a heartbreaking outcome. Divers had to work tirelessly for almost three hours to retrieve their bodies from the river.
The tragic incident prompted a swift response from the Mahidpur police and a rescue team, who faced challenges due to the river’s flow while recovering the bodies. The community has since called for improved safety measures at the bridge, emphasizing the need for warning signs and barriers to prevent such accidents in the future.
The loss of these two lives has left Narayankhedi village in deep mourning, with Asaram having recently gotten married and Ayush’s family devastated by the tragedy. Authorities have initiated investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident, highlighting the need for enhanced safety precautions along the Shipra River to avert similar tragedies in the future.
