A tragic fire incident at a four-storey building in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar claimed the lives of nine individuals, including a 1.5-year-old child. The fire, which started on the second floor around 4 a.m., led to the dispatch of 14 fire engines for rescue operations. Over 10 people were successfully rescued during the operation.
The identities of the deceased have been confirmed by officials. The second floor witnessed the highest casualties, with five individuals losing their lives, including a family of five: Arvind Jain (60 years), Anita Jain (58 years), Nishant Jain (35 years), Anchal Jain (33 years), and their 1.5-year-old son, Akash Jain.
On the third floor, three members of a family, Nitin Jain (50 years), Shailey Jain (48 years), and Samyak Jain (25 years), lost their lives. Additionally, on the first floor, Sikha Jain (40 years) was killed, while her husband, Naveen Jain (48 years), sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.
Emergency responders, including police personnel, the Vivek Vihar SHO, and ACP, swiftly reached the scene upon receiving the fire alert. The fire was brought under control by 6 a.m., and the injured were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. During the rescue efforts, a total of 15 individuals were saved, with two sustaining minor injuries and receiving medical care at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.
