A tragic incident occurred at Shivrampur Ghat in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district on Sunday morning, where six individuals, including four teenage girls, drowned in the Ganga River during a ritual ceremony. The victims had gathered at the ghat for a ritual and while bathing in the river, four of them started drowning. Two youths who tried to rescue them also got swept away.
Police have confirmed the rescue of two girls, while the search continues for the other bodies. Search operations, involving local fishermen, fire brigade teams, and divers, are currently ongoing. Deputy Superintendent of Police Muhammad Usman provided details, stating that the situation is under control as efforts are being made to locate the missing individuals.
The incident has prompted a large-scale rescue operation, with intensified efforts to find the missing persons. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to expedite relief and rescue work, ensuring all measures are taken to locate the missing individuals promptly. The victims, who hailed from a family in Kalyanipur village, had gathered at the ghat for the ceremony.
The tragic incident has left the region in sorrow, with anxious family members and locals awaiting updates while rescue teams battle the strong currents of the Ganga River in their search efforts.
