A tragic road accident in Khandwa district, Madhya Pradesh, resulted in one fatality and 36 injuries, with 14 individuals in critical condition. The incident occurred when a speeding truck, carrying around 40 passengers, overturned on the Moondi–Sanawad highway near Dudgaon. The victims, hailing from the Gurjar community, were returning from a traditional ceremony when the accident happened.
The driver reportedly lost control while attempting to overtake another vehicle, causing the overloaded truck to veer off the road and flip over. Local residents rushed to the scene to assist the injured, who were initially taken to Sanawad hospital before being transferred to Khandwa district hospital. Fourteen of the injured, with severe head and limb injuries, have been referred to MY Hospital in Indore for advanced medical care.
Authorities have cited overloading, reckless overtaking, and driver negligence as the primary factors contributing to the accident. Investigations are ongoing to determine the driver’s condition, vehicle mechanics, and the exact chain of events leading to the tragedy. The local administration is extending medical and logistical support to the affected families, with police initiating an inquiry into the circumstances that allowed the truck to carry passengers unchecked.
