Two separate tragic road accidents in Chikkaballapur and Chamarajanagar districts of Karnataka on Thursday have resulted in the loss of four lives, including a 7-month-old infant and an elderly couple, with several others sustaining injuries. In Chikkaballapur, an elderly couple lost their lives in a collision involving a KSRTC bus near Sadali Cross on National Highway 44 in Gudibande taluk. The couple, identified as 75-year-old Laxmana and 70-year-old Ratnamma, were residents of Tirukachenahalli village in Shidlaghatta taluk and were on a two-wheeler when the accident occurred.
The tragic incident occurred when the riders unexpectedly turned without noticing the approaching bus, which was en route from Kadiri in Andhra Pradesh to Bengaluru. Due to the collision, the couple was fatally injured as they came under the bus wheels. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of Peresandra police station, where authorities have initiated an investigation after registering a case.
In a separate incident in Chamarajanagar, a devastating head-on collision between two cars near Doddamoodahalli Cross claimed two lives, including that of a 7-month-old infant. One of the cars, reportedly speeding and losing control, collided forcefully with another car traveling in the opposite direction. Mubarak, aged 70, and the infant lost their lives at the scene, while five others, including children, sustained severe injuries and were promptly taken to CIMS Hospital in Chamarajanagar for medical care. Chamarajanagar traffic police have visited the site, conducted examinations, and filed a case, with ongoing investigations.
Recalling a recent incident, five individuals, including four women, were tragically killed, and over 10 others were seriously injured in a road accident on National Highway 44 near Gangotri Petrol Bunk on the outskirts of Bagepalli town in Chickballapur district last Sunday. The victims, daily-wage laborers, were returning home in an auto-rickshaw after finishing their day’s work.
