Hours after a train passenger was killed during a violent scuffle at Delhi’s Shahdara railway station, the police have arrested eight suspects at the Muzaffarnagar Railway station. The arrested individuals are currently in police custody and are being questioned about the reasons behind the deadly altercation. The incident took place on Platform No. 3 of Shahdara Railway Station in East Delhi as passengers were attempting to board the Yoga Express.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim, identified as Pankaj Dhama, was attacked by a group of co-passengers with punches and kicks, resulting in his collapse on the platform. The situation escalated into a fatal assault, leading to his deteriorating condition. Eyewitnesses reported that a verbal dispute among passengers quickly turned into a physical confrontation, ultimately causing the tragic outcome. The deceased, Pankaj Dhama, was reportedly a security guard for the Delhi Metro and leaves behind a daughter and a son.
The family of the deceased has alleged that due to a lack of timely assistance from railway authorities, Pankaj Dhama’s life could not be saved. Relatives claimed that fellow passengers, rather than authorities, transported him to the hospital, resulting in a delay that proved fatal. The police are currently interrogating the arrested individuals to determine the circumstances that led to the victim’s death. Additionally, a video circulating on social media captures the violent incident at the station, showing a group of individuals attacking someone on the platform where a train was stationed.
