Train operations in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan, Pakistan, have been halted for the second consecutive day due to “unavoidable circumstances,” as reported by local media. The Jaffar Express from Quetta to Peshawar did not depart on Friday, and services like the Bolan Mail and Chaman Passenger to Karachi were also affected. Delays in Karachi-bound trains have led to passenger protests at Cantt Station.
At least 14 individuals, including three Frontier Corps personnel, lost their lives in a blast near Chaman Phatak in Quetta on May 24. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack, targeting a military shuttle train. The group reported casualties among Pakistani military personnel and stated that the operation was carried out by its Majeed Brigade and intelligence wing.
Following security concerns, bus services between major Pakistani cities and Quetta were suspended earlier, impacting travel for many. Additionally, internet services in Quetta and other areas of Balochistan were disrupted, affecting daily life and commercial activities. The suspension of air and train services has further compounded the challenges faced by the residents.
