Amid controversies over signature mismatches, Abhishek Banerjee, Trinamool Congress General Secretary, submitted a second letter to Assembly Speaker Rathindra Bose. The letter reiterates the names of four party legislators for crucial Opposition bench positions in the West Bengal Assembly.
Earlier, Banerjee had named Sovandeb Chattopadhyay as Leader of the Opposition and others for different roles. Speaker Bose requested a resolution with legislators’ signatures endorsing the nominations, leading to discrepancies being pointed out by two Trinamool Congress members.
Following the discrepancies, the CID was asked to investigate, issuing summons to Banerjee. After missing the first summons, he received a second summon for June 8. Despite the ongoing controversy, Banerjee sent a second letter endorsing the same names for the Opposition positions.
