Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee plans to visit the office of West Bengal’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Manoj Agarwal on January 27, accompanied by a 10-member party delegation. The visit follows an email application requesting a meeting with the CEO, with the party aiming to discuss crucial issues related to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in the state.
The email sent by the party to the CEO did not provide specific details but mentioned that the delegation, led by Abhishek Banerjee, will address important matters concerning the SIR process. Previously, on December 31, Banerjee met with Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in Delhi, where he criticized the Commission for alleged harassment under the guise of ‘logical discrepancies.’
In response to recent Supreme Court directives to the Election Commission of India regarding the SIR process in West Bengal, Banerjee declared that the BJP’s tactics in the state have been thwarted. Addressing party members in Barasat, he expressed confidence in the party’s victory in both legal battles and upcoming elections, emphasizing the protection of voting rights for the people of Bengal.
