Amid internal dissent in the Trinamool Congress Parliamentary Party in the Lok Sabha, the party leadership has ousted two Lok Sabha members from important organizational roles.
The significant decision involved replacing Sudip Bandopadhyay, a four-time Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha member from Kolkata (Uttar) constituency, as the president of the party’s Kolkata (Uttar) Assembly constituency. This change followed reports of Bandopadhyay being spotted in a car with rebel MP Satabdi Roy in Delhi, en route to BJP leader Bhupendra Yadav’s residence.
Journalist-turned-politician Kunal Ghosh has taken over Bandopadhyay’s position, aligning with former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, amidst the ongoing turmoil.
First-time Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha member Sayoni Ghosh from Jadavpur constituency, who also rebelled, has been removed as the president of the Trinamool youth wing, with Arnab Mukherjee assuming the role.
Veteran Trinamool Congress leader Manas Ranjan Bhunia, defeated in the recent West Bengal Assembly polls, has announced his departure from the party, citing a lack of opportunities to contribute. Bhunia expressed his intent to remain active in politics and social service, informing Mamata Banerjee of his resignation in a formal letter.
