Trinamool Congress MLA Kunal Ghosh criticized party MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay for joining the rebel group of Trinamool Lok Sabha MPs. Ghosh referred to Bandyopadhyay’s departure as “buy one get one free,” calling him “a man sporting a wig” who would have a “mobile beauty parlour at his expense.” He expressed dissatisfaction with Bandyopadhyay’s party-switching history and discontent with the current situation.
Ghosh mentioned that Mamata Banerjee deserved this outcome for trusting such individuals blindly and retaining them in the party. He highlighted the departure of Tapas Roy due to Bandyopadhyay, praising Roy as a capable leader. Ghosh accused Bandyopadhyay of causing the loss of deserving leaders within the party and labeled him a betrayer.
Referring to an old issue, Ghosh defended Tapas Roy as a good person and criticized his suspension from the party for expressing this view. He recounted a recent incident where Sudip Bandyopadhyay was questioned about his whereabouts when the CID visited Mamata Banerjee’s residence. Ghosh revealed that while Bandyopadhyay went to Bhupendra Yadav’s house, Nayna Bandyopadhyay, Sudip’s wife and a Trinamool MLA, did not reach Mamata Banerjee’s residence.
Incidentally, rebel Trinamool MPs, led by Kakali Ghosh Dastidar, convened a meeting at Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav’s residence, attended by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. Sudip Bandyopadhyay was observed in Delhi with rebel MP Satabdi Roy before joining the rebel faction. Both MPs traveled together to Bhupendra Yadav’s house from Delhi airport, where multiple meetings have taken place recently. The rebel group, under the leadership of Kakali Ghosh Dastidar and Satabdi Roy, welcomed Sudip Bandyopadhyay into their ranks.
