Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy emphasized the importance of party leader Mamata Banerjee taking a leading role in the opposition’s battle against the BJP. Roy expressed his desire for a close alliance between Trinamool and Congress to combat and defeat the BJP.
Roy refrained from commenting on Trinamool MP Kalyan Banerjee’s criticisms of party General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, citing their close relationship with Mamata Banerjee. He highlighted that any decision regarding this matter would involve the two individuals.
Roy attributed the internal dissent within Trinamool to the BJP, accusing them of employing tactics like spreading falsehoods and using agencies like ED and CBI to intimidate individuals. He also addressed the issue of rebel Trinamool MPs potentially supporting the NDA, stating that the situation was uncertain.
Regarding rebel MP Satabdi Roy’s rumored association with the BJP, Roy mentioned that while he had spoken to her, he acknowledged her connections with BJP leaders. However, he stressed that mere contact with rival party members would not lead to expulsion from Trinamool.
Roy affirmed his commitment to Trinamool under Mamata Banerjee’s leadership and suggested that efforts should be made to reconcile with rebel MPs for the party’s unity.
