Trinamool Congress MP Kirti Azad criticized the BJP for recent raids on party leaders by the Enforcement Directorate and West Bengal Police. The ED conducted raids in Kolkata and adjoining areas related to a cash-for-municipalities job case. Simultaneously, the West Midnapore police searched the residence of party Secretary Abhishek Banerjee to locate his executive assistant.
Azad expressed that targeting opposition parties is a common tactic of the ruling party, citing lack of convictions. He accused the BJP of using these raids to divert attention from important issues like inflation and employment. Azad questioned the BJP’s motives behind targeting specific individuals within the Trinamool Congress.
Referring to corruption allegations against West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, Azad highlighted the need for accountability within the ruling party. He raised concerns about unresolved cases involving Adhikari and other party members accused of corruption. Azad pointed out the need for transparency and accountability in addressing corruption allegations within political circles.
