In response to questions raised about the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) and internal conflicts within the Trinamool Congress, MP Saayoni Ghosh emphasized the importance of open communication channels within the party. Despite denying any internal issues, Ghosh highlighted the need for maintaining a balance between different party factions and ensuring effective communication. She acknowledged the challenges of meeting everyone’s expectations but stressed the support she has received from party members and leaders.
Reflecting on I-PAC’s performance, Ghosh acknowledged its past successes but noted a lack of delivery in the recent elections. She called for introspection within both I-PAC and the Trinamool Congress to address any shortcomings. Ghosh highlighted the importance of addressing concerns raised by party members and the need to bridge communication gaps that may have arisen.
Addressing allegations against the Trinamool leadership, Ghosh expressed disappointment in leaders who chose to criticize the party after its electoral setback. She also condemned the normalization of hate and crimes against women, citing a recent alleged death threat from a BJP leader. Ghosh emphasized the need for ensuring the safety of women in the country and highlighted the importance of dissent in a democratic society.
Ghosh attributed the threats she received to her vocal stance against the BJP and her role as a dissenting voice within Parliament. She criticized the BJP for its intolerance towards opposition voices and women’s empowerment, contrasting it with the cultural ethos of Bengal. Ghosh, known for her advocacy for women’s rights, reiterated the strength and resilience of Bengali women, citing Mamata Banerjee as a prime example.
