The Trinamool Congress has voiced worries about potential electronic voting machine (EVM) hacking during the upcoming two-phase elections in West Bengal. Sayani Ghosh, the party’s Lok Sabha member from Jadavpur constituency, accused the BJP of attempting to manipulate EVMs when faced with challenges. Ghosh criticized the Election Commission of India for recent bureaucratic transfers, alleging a political agenda favoring the BJP.
Basu, the West Bengal Education Minister, joined Ghosh in criticizing the Election Commission’s actions. Basu highlighted the appointment of officers with alleged ties to the BJP or tainted backgrounds as observers in West Bengal. He specifically mentioned instances where officers with questionable reputations were assigned as observers in different constituencies, accusing the BJP of fostering corruption under the guise of elections.
