A Trinamool Congress supporter lost his life in Kolkata during a rooftop altercation between two rival groups while they were drinking late at night. The incident, which occurred in Ward No. 101 of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, resulted in the death of Rahul Dey (36) and left another individual, Jeet Mukherjee, injured. The police revealed that Rahul and Jeet, who had known each other previously but had lost touch, were attending an event at Jeet’s residence when the violence erupted.
Sudden gunfire around 12:30 a.m. startled neighbors as three shots were fired on the rooftop where the group had gathered. Upon investigation, Rahul was found with fatal gunshot wounds, and Jeet was also injured. Both were rushed to the hospital, where Rahul was pronounced dead. Local sources indicated that Jeet had a history of criminal activities and had been banned from Patuli since 2021, with multiple arrests on record.
Jeet, who had been expelled from the local Trinamool camp, had relocated to a neighboring ward but allegedly continued his illicit activities. Despite claiming to be visiting his parents temporarily, he had returned to Patuli recently. The tragic incident unfolded when miscreants from a rival faction disrupted the gathering on Jeet’s rooftop, resulting in the fatal shooting of Rahul. Jeet survived the attack and is currently receiving medical treatment.
Rahul’s brother recounted the heartbreaking discovery of his brother’s demise at the scene, emphasizing the sudden and tragic nature of the event. Initial police investigations point to a dispute over syndicates and money distribution as the underlying cause of the deadly confrontation.
