Baidyanath Ghosh Dastidar, the son of Trinamool Congress rebel MP Kakali Ghosh Dastidar, has issued a legal notice to Mamata Banerjee, along with Trinamool MPs Sougata Roy, Kalyan Banerjee, Mahua Moitra, and former Trinamool leader Sonali Guha. He refuted claims of seeking an MLA ticket from the Barasat Assembly constituency, labeling such allegations as false and defamatory. Additionally, he denied accusations of alcohol consumption made by Sonali Guha against him and his family.
The legal notice, prepared by his advocate Pooja Shukla, is set to be served on Monday to the concerned individuals. This action follows recent comments by Sonali Guha and other Trinamool leaders, insinuating that Kakali Ghosh Dastidar’s rebellion stemmed from her son being denied a ticket to contest in the Barasat constituency during the Assembly polls. Baidyanath Ghosh Dastidar has demanded a public apology and retraction of these statements, warning of legal recourse for defamation if necessary.
Notably, rebel Trinamool MPs, including Kakali Ghosh Dastidar, convened at Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav’s residence, with Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari also present. Sudip Bandyopadhyay recently joined the rebel faction, which has expressed intentions to align with the BJP-led NDA alliance. Furthermore, Trinamool Congress MP from Kolkata Uttar was spotted in Delhi alongside rebel MP Satabdi Roy, heading to Bhupendra Yadav’s residence in the same car from the airport.
