Saha emphasized the collaborative efforts of both Central and state governments to bolster the agricultural sector and enhance the socio-economic status of farmers.
The Chief Minister highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives for agricultural progress and farmer welfare since taking office. Initiatives like Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, and PM-KUSUM aim to offer financial security and assistance to the farming community. The Tripura government is actively working to ensure that these schemes benefit all eligible farmers in the state, encouraging more cultivators to engage in farming activities.
Saha noted the positive impact of government schemes on farmers, with over 2.61 lakh metric tonnes of paddy procured under the MSP scheme, resulting in Rs 520 crore directly transferred to farmers’ accounts. Additionally, schemes like PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana have provided financial support and compensation to farmers facing crop losses. The Kisan Credit Card scheme has benefited more than 4.57 lakh farmers, enabling them to access credit for agricultural purposes at reasonable rates.
The Chief Minister emphasized the state government’s efforts to promote mechanized farming by offering modern agricultural equipment at subsidized rates. These initiatives aim to reduce cultivation costs, enhance productivity, and make farming more sustainable and profitable. Saha reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the farming community, recognizing agriculture as a crucial sector for Tripura’s economy.
