Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has taken a firm stance in the battle against drugs in the state. In a meeting at the Civil Secretariat, he stressed the need for continuous vigilance by the police to prevent drug influx through various routes. Drugs often enter Tripura from Myanmar via Mizoram and southern Assam, with some destined for illegal transit to Bangladesh.
The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating drug-related activities. He urged law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts in combating the drug menace. Chief Minister Saha, who also oversees the Home Department, directed officials to address traffic congestion and enhance infrastructure development, emphasizing the importance of active departmental engagement.
He further instructed officials to enhance public services and uphold law and order in the state. Reiterating the government’s dedication to public service, Chief Minister Saha urged all departments to remain vigilant and proactive in addressing public issues. The Task Monitoring System (TMS) meeting saw participation from District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police from all eight districts, focusing on tackling traffic congestion in district headquarters, including Agartala city.
Authorities were tasked with swift actions to regulate vehicle load limits and ensure efficient traffic signal systems. Additionally, transport officials were directed to expedite the construction of new motor stands statewide. Chief Minister Saha emphasized the need for close monitoring of private healthcare facilities, rehabilitation centers, and sub-registrar offices to ensure transparency and combat corruption.
Preventive measures against potential diarrhoea and dysentery outbreaks, particularly during the upcoming rainy season, were highlighted. The Chief Minister stressed discipline in schools and the effective management of mid-day meal schemes. Infrastructure development was a key focus, with officials instructed to accelerate road repair and renovation while maintaining quality standards.
Regarding electricity services, officials reported that 99% of the infrastructure damaged in a recent storm has been restored. Chief Minister Saha emphasized the timely disbursement of MGNREGA funds and ensuring prompt payment of wages to daily wage workers. The meeting, attended by various senior officials, underscored the government’s commitment to efficient governance and public welfare.
