Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha showcased the state’s progress in education, healthcare, and economic growth at the 11th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog. He emphasized Tripura’s commitment to building strong human capital in alignment with the vision of a developed India by 2047. Saha praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in advancing the nation’s development journey during the meeting themed “Human Capital for Viksit Bharat.”
Highlighting Tripura’s growth trajectory, Saha mentioned the state’s doubled Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) over six years and its status as India’s third fully literate state. He outlined various initiatives in the education sector, such as Mission Mukul and the establishment of model schools under the Vidyajyoti Programme. Saha also discussed healthcare efforts, including the Poshan Tracker initiative and the Mukhyamantri Niramay Arogya Abhiyan for non-communicable diseases.
In empowering women and youth, Saha noted the involvement of rural women in Self-Help Groups and the formulation of the Tripura Women Entrepreneurship Policy 2025. He highlighted the state’s efforts to enhance female labor force participation and provide employment opportunities for women, including night shifts with adequate safety measures. Plans for establishing a World Skill Centre and a School of Languages were also mentioned.
Governance reforms in Tripura, including securing top ranks in Deregulation and Compliance Reduction initiatives, were highlighted by the Chief Minister. He shared that the state attracted significant investment proposals and major companies like Bharti Airtel are setting up strategic facilities. Saha also discussed the state’s focus on MSME support, tourism infrastructure development, and digitalization across administrative levels.
