Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha commended the Union Budget 2026–27 presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for its strong focus on development in various sectors like education, health, defense, and infrastructure. Speaking at the ‘Budget Yuva Conference’ organized by the BJP’s Pradesh Yuva Morcha, Saha highlighted the budget’s alignment with PM Modi’s development vision and emphasized the citizens’ role in nation-building. He also noted Sitharaman’s unique distinction as the only woman Finance Minister to present the Union Budget nine times in a row.
The Chief Minister underscored the budget’s goal of achieving a developed India by 2047, emphasizing its detailed approach to different sectors. He mentioned the historical context of the budget presentation, highlighting the merger of the Railway Budget and General Budget under PM Modi’s tenure. Saha explained that the budget primarily focuses on outlining the country’s income, expenditure, and key areas for development.
Saha further elaborated on the budget’s allocation towards critical sectors like infrastructure, health, and defense, with a notable 15% of the total budget earmarked for defense. He emphasized the budget’s special provisions for the youth, farmers, the poor, and women, aiming for inclusive development and unity among different societal segments. The Chief Minister highlighted initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana, targeting the creation of 3.5 crore jobs for the youth.
The budget’s significant emphasis on farmers’ welfare, including ensuring fair prices for agricultural produce and strengthening agricultural infrastructure, was also highlighted by Saha. The conference, attended by BJP State President Rajib Bhattacharjee, former MP Rebati Tripura, State Yuva Morcha President Sushanta Deb, and other party leaders and workers, focused on the budget’s implications and developmental priorities.
