The Tripura State Election Commission has announced that elections for the 30-member Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) will be held on April 13. The Model Code of Conduct is now in effect in the TTAADC areas.
Tripura State Election Commissioner Manoj Kumar stated that nominations must be filed by March 25, with scrutiny scheduled for the following day. The deadline for withdrawal of candidature is March 28. The counting of votes is set for April 17.
Security arrangements will be rigorously implemented to ensure a fair and smooth electoral process, as emphasized by the State Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag. The TTAADC, governed by the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) since 2021, will witness a significant electoral battle.
Major political parties are intensifying their campaigns to secure support from tribal voters, with the BJP, its ally the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), the TMP, along with opposition parties like the CPI-M and the Congress, actively engaging in the electoral landscape.
