US President Donald Trump revealed the death of Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, identified as ISIS’s global second-in-command, in a joint mission by American and Nigerian forces. The operation, directed by Trump, aimed at eliminating a significant terrorist threat. Trump expressed gratitude for the successful collaboration between US and Nigerian security forces in executing the mission.
Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, also known as Abu Bakr ibn Muhammad ibn Ali al-Mainuki, held a prominent position within ISIS and was sanctioned by the US Department of State in 2023 for his involvement in terrorism-related activities. He operated in the Sahel region in Africa and played a key role in the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
The Counter Extremism Project’s report highlighted Al-Mainuki’s leadership in the Lake Chad division under ISIS’s General Directorate of Provinces. His elimination is seen as a significant blow to ISIS’s global operations, reducing the threat posed by the terror group in the region.
