US President Donald Trump mentioned that Iran is interested in negotiations with the US but emphasized that Iran would not be permitted to possess nuclear weapons. During the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Trump reiterated his administration’s stance on preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear arms. Trump stated, “They are talking to us right now. They’d love to make a deal,” indicating a willingness to listen but expressing that the timing might not be right yet. He affirmed that the US would stand firm against Iran’s nuclear aspirations, asserting, “They cannot have a nuclear weapon.”

Recent US military actions were highlighted by Trump, who claimed that these actions had significantly weakened Iran’s military capabilities. Although no evidence was presented, Trump stated, “We’ve hit Iran very hard,” mentioning the loss of Iran’s navy, air force, jets, boats, radar systems, and drone capabilities. Trump emphasized the importance of preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, labeling it as a key objective of US policy.

Trump’s speech at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner touched on various topics, including humor, media criticism, and political jabs. He also expressed his belief that the US had regained global prominence during his tenure, referring to it as “the golden age of America.” Foreign leaders, according to Trump, have praised the US for its turnaround, with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Saudi leaders reportedly commending the country’s progress.

The rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Dinner, initially disrupted by a shooting incident in April, saw Trump condemning political violence and commending the response of the Secret Service and law enforcement. The event marked a shift in focus, with Trump emphasizing the need to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, a longstanding issue in US foreign policy.
