US President Donald Trump stated that Iran’s military strength has significantly decreased, emphasizing that the conflict will not lead to a never-ending war. Trump mentioned that the US is close to either reaching a nuclear deal with Tehran or accomplishing its goals through military actions.
During an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press, Trump highlighted that Iran now possesses only a small portion of its missile arsenal, indicating a substantial reduction in the threat posed by the country after continuous US military efforts. Trump expressed that about 21-22% of Iran’s missiles remain, significantly lower than the initial numbers.
When questioned about the possibility of the US getting entangled in a prolonged conflict in the Middle East, Trump dismissed the idea, stating that the current campaign against Iran differs greatly from past wars in the region. He emphasized his aversion to prolonged wars, asserting that the situation with Iran does not fall into that category.
As the conflict entered its 100th day, concerns arose regarding the administration’s long-term strategy and the potential for a diplomatic resolution. Trump claimed that US military operations have already achieved significant objectives, including the destruction of Iran’s military infrastructure, drone factories, launch sites, and missile production facilities.
Throughout the interview, Trump reiterated the primary goal of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, emphasizing the necessity of this objective. He expressed confidence in nearing a conclusion through negotiations but stated that if diplomacy fails, military actions will be pursued to ensure Iran does not obtain nuclear capabilities.
Trump also addressed concerns about contradicting his promise to avoid new wars, stating that the current operation against Iran was essential due to the country’s nuclear ambitions. He remained firm on his stance that Iran must not be allowed to possess nuclear weapons and expressed optimism about reaching a resolution through either a diplomatic agreement or decisive military action.
