Trump highlighted PM Modi’s longevity in office, political strength, and international standing as qualities of effective leadership. He specifically mentioned PM Modi’s stability in a country that previously experienced frequent changes in leadership.
Reflecting on the recent G7 summit, Trump recalled PM Modi’s presence among the world leaders. He described PM Modi as a leader who combines calmness with political toughness, emphasizing his solid leadership over more than 12 years. Trump also acknowledged India’s growing global influence and demographic significance, praising PM Modi’s approach to international affairs.
During the conversation, Trump also praised Chinese President Xi Jinping and identified both Xi and PM Modi as influential leaders who command respect in their respective countries. Trump highlighted the uncommon abilities and resilience required for leaders to rise to the highest offices, emphasizing the intelligence and toughness essential for such positions.
PM Modi, serving as India’s Prime Minister since May 2014, has led the nation to become the world’s most populous and one of the fastest-growing major economies. The close working relationship between Trump and PM Modi has strengthened cooperation between the United States and India in various areas, including defence, technology, trade, energy, and Indo-Pacific security.
