The annual Tulip Festival-2026, organized by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), is set to commence at the Shanti Path Lawn in the heart of the national capital on Monday. The festival will include a special walk and exhibition, featuring a stunning array of blooming tulips and floral displays curated by the Horticulture Department.
Scheduled to begin on Monday morning near the Embassy of Sudan in Chanakyapuri, the Tulip Walk and Exhibition were delayed by a week due to security measures for the India AI Impact Summit 2026. NDMC Vice-Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal had highlighted the agency’s plans to host the Tulip Festival-2026 on a grand scale during the budget announcement last month.
To enhance the city’s aesthetics, 5.53 lakh tulip bulbs will be planted, with a significant portion cultivated in-house and in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, under the “Make in India” initiative. Last year, NDMC introduced potted Tulip plants for sale, making them accessible to the public at various locations including Shanti Path Lawn, Lodhi Garden, Nehru Park, and other NDMC nurseries.
Chahal emphasized NDMC’s commitment to becoming a leading municipality in terms of sustainability and self-reliance, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. The agency is also developing a Miyawaki forest in a park near Nazaf Khan Road in Lodhi Colony, with ongoing efforts to plant trees, shrubs, and bamboo plants for a greener urban landscape.
