The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor-turned-politician Vijay, strongly denounced the alleged sexual assault and murder of a two-year-old girl in Krishnagiri district. The party demanded prompt and strict measures against the perpetrator. TVK expressed shock and deep sorrow over the incident, labeling it a “heinous and unforgivable act.”
The TVK accused the alleged perpetrator of being a union-level organizer in the youth wing of the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). The party questioned whether individuals with political affiliations felt immune to the law’s consequences and could act with impunity. It criticized the deteriorating law and order situation in Tamil Nadu, claiming that those linked to the ruling establishment were operating without fear of legal repercussions.
TVK called on the State government to ensure an unbiased investigation without political interference and requested the case to be shifted to a fast-track court. The party demanded the strictest punishment under the law if the accused is proven guilty. Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) president Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss also condemned the crime, alleging that the arrested suspect was associated with the DMK youth wing.
Dr. Anbumani highlighted a surge in crime rates in Tamil Nadu since the DMK came to power. He criticized the rising incidents of sexual assaults, murders, and robberies across the state, accusing ruling party members of behaving as if they had a “licence” to commit crimes. Referring to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s previous statements on taking tough action against party members engaged in misconduct, Dr. Anbumani criticized the government’s alleged inaction.
The PMK leader presented statistics indicating a notable increase in crimes against women and children during the current administration, along with a rise in drug circulation in the state. He emphasized the government’s duty to ensure public safety, amidst growing concerns about law and order. The incident has triggered political backlash, with opposition parties escalating their criticism of the State government over security apprehensions.
