Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay has been called by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in New Delhi on Monday for further questioning regarding the Karur stampede. The tragic incident, which claimed 41 lives during a political campaign event led by Vijay in Tamil Nadu last year, has prompted an intensified investigation by the CBI.
The CBI’s probe into the Karur stampede, which occurred on September 27, has raised concerns about crowd management and administrative readiness. A supervisory committee, headed by retired Supreme Court judge Ajay Rastogi, is overseeing the investigation, focusing on accountability, planning lapses, and the events leading to the disaster.
In its inquiry, the CBI has questioned several senior TVK members to determine the event’s organization, preparation details, and safety measures. Following these interviews, Vijay was summoned to Delhi for questioning. After his initial interrogation, Vijay is set to appear before the CBI again on Monday for further examination.
