Twisha Sharma’s father has lodged a complaint in the Madhya Pradesh High Court, urging an investigation into the actions of certain lawyers linked to the Legal Aid Defence Counsel scheme. The complaint questions the conduct of lawyers appointed under the legal aid system, suggesting they may have favored the accused, particularly during Giribala Singh’s tenure as District and Sessions Judge in Bhopal.
The complaint includes a photo showing Shreyas Saxena, an assistant advocate with the Legal Aid Defence Counsel scheme, allegedly participating in a wedding event. It also alleges that Saxena was present in court alongside the accused’s private counsel during an anticipatory bail plea hearing on May 15. Additionally, Reena Verma, Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel, is named in the complaint.
Twisha Sharma’s father raises concerns about the active involvement of legal aid lawyers when the accused already had private representation. The complaint also questions the identity and role of an unidentified individual seen at a beauty parlour and later at the wedding ceremony, seeking clarification on these matters.
Advocate Ankur Pandey, representing Twisha Sharma’s family, confirmed that the complaint has been submitted to the authorities for review. The complaint calls for an independent inquiry into the conduct of legal aid lawyers, their alleged connections with the accused, and the legal representation provided during the anticipatory bail hearing.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is actively investigating the death of actress Twisha Sharma. The judicial remand of former District and Sessions Judge Giribala Singh and her son, Samarth Singh, is scheduled to conclude on June 16. The CBI will present both individuals before the court on that date to determine whether an extension of judicial custody or police remand is necessary for further questioning.
