The police apprehended two individuals following a shooting incident at the residence of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Noapara, West Bengal. The incident, where shots were fired at BJP leader Kundan Singh’s house, has raised tensions in the area. CCTV footage captured two individuals arriving on a motorcycle and firing shots at the house before fleeing the scene.
Kundan Singh, the BJP’s general secretary in Barrackpore, identified the alleged miscreants as Trinamool-affiliated individuals based on the CCTV footage. The police, after reviewing the footage, arrested Akash Chaudhary and Amandeep Chaudhary in connection with the incident. The firearm used in the shooting has been recovered, and investigations are ongoing to determine its use in the crime.
The BJP has accused Trinamool of attempting to instill fear in the area ahead of the upcoming vote count. They claim the attackers are associated with Trinamool’s candidate from Noapara, Trinankur Bhattacharya. In response, Trinamool has refuted these allegations, with candidate Somamnath Shyam suggesting that the BJP orchestrated the attack.
