Two individuals, Mohit Tiwari and Mohit Dixit, residents of Brahmpuri in northeast Delhi, have been apprehended by the Delhi Police Crime Branch for producing and distributing counterfeit protein supplements from renowned brands in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). The illegal operation, recently uncovered by the Crime Branch, involved the manufacturing and sale of fake protein products that could potentially endanger consumers’ health.

The accused were taken into custody after a targeted operation by the Crime Branch’s NDR unit in the Brahmpuri area on March 6. Following interrogation, the suspects admitted to their involvement in the illicit scheme and guided law enforcement to unauthorized manufacturing facilities in Brahmpuri. These facilities were found to be producing bogus supplements by blending different raw materials and packaging them in containers labeled with popular brand names.

Law enforcement officials discovered a significant quantity of counterfeit supplements, packaging materials, and raw ingredients during the raid on the manufacturing units. Among the seized items were boxes of counterfeit protein supplements masquerading as Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey, Syntha-6 Ultra Premium Protein Matrix, and Isopure Zero Carb Protein, along with various additives like cocoa powder, whey protein powder, fat powder, and maltodextrin powder.

Additionally, the police recovered packaging components such as brand stickers, hologram labels, seals, plastic jars, and lids bearing the insignias of reputable brands. Two mixing machines and weighing devices utilized in the production of the fraudulent supplements were also confiscated. In total, approximately 100 kg of counterfeit protein supplements and 55 kg of raw materials used in their fabrication were seized from the premises, alongside two mobile phones belonging to the suspects.

The accused individuals confessed to manufacturing fake supplements by combining maltodextrin and flavoring agents, then marketing them under the guise of popular brands to turn a quick profit. Authorities are currently conducting further inquiries to locate other suspects involved in the operation, including Anil Biswa, and to unravel the supply chain, identify the sources of raw materials, and trace the distribution network responsible for circulating the counterfeit supplements in the market.
