Two individuals, including the complainant’s son, have been apprehended for orchestrating a daytime burglary in the Shakarpur area of east Delhi. The police recovered stolen gold jewelry and cash totaling around Rs 20 lakh. The incident was reported on March 18 after a PCR call alerted the Shakarpur police station about a theft at a residence in School Block.
The complainant, Sarajit Sarkar, who operates a clinic at ITO, informed the police that upon returning from Vaishali in Ghaziabad with his family, they discovered the house had been broken into. Gold jewelry and cash amounting to Rs 37,000 were reported missing. Subsequently, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and an investigation was initiated.
Upon investigation, it was noted that there were no signs of forced entry, leading to suspicions surrounding the circumstances of the theft. The police analyzed CCTV footage from the vicinity, monitored movements around the house, and conducted technical surveillance, including scrutinizing call detail records and digital interactions.
The probe unveiled that the complainant’s son, Sayan Sarkar, aged 24, had allegedly collaborated with his friend Vishal, also 24, to stage the burglary due to financial troubles stemming from stock market losses. Sayan provided a duplicate key to the house and shared information about the family’s movements. Vishal then entered the house using the key during a vacant period and made away with the stolen gold jewelry and cash. Both suspects confessed to their involvement during interrogation, and the recovered stolen items validated their statements.
The stolen articles, including various gold bangles, necklaces, bracelets, chains, earrings, rings, pendants, and other jewelry items, were retrieved. The police credited the resolution of the case to CCTV analysis, technical surveillance, and thorough questioning. The investigation is ongoing to delve further into the matter.
