At Nungshang Kong in Manipur’s Ukhrul district, a paramilitary force vehicle was ambushed by a suspected Naga armed group, resulting in the deaths of a Warrant Officer and a Havildar from Assam Rifles. The incident led to an exchange of fire, hindering immediate confirmation of casualties and attackers’ identities.
Manipur’s Chief Minister, Home Minister, and Assam Rifles Director General condemned the attack and promised strict action against the perpetrators. The slain personnel were identified as Warrant Officer Balwant Singh and Havildar Chandra Mohan Singh. The area witnessed heavy gunfire and explosions, causing panic among locals and disrupting normal activities.
