Two construction workers tragically lost their lives after falling from the 37th floor of an under-construction building in Greater Noida. The incident took place at the ATS Picturesque Reprieve project in Sector 152 under the Knowledge Park police station limits.
The workers, who were engaged in shuttering work on Tower-23, fell from a height when their safety belts gave way. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, both men succumbed to their critical injuries during treatment.
The deceased individuals have been identified as Raisul Haq, aged 24 and son of Badiur Jamal, and Abdul Samad, aged 45 and son of Sadat Rahman. Hailing from West Bengal, they were employed as laborers at construction sites in Greater Noida.
Police officials promptly responded to the scene upon notification and launched an investigation to determine the precise cause of the tragic incident. Initial assessments point towards a failure in safety belts as the likely trigger, although a comprehensive inquiry is underway.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent for postmortem examination. Authorities have assured that an FIR will be lodged based on complaints from the families of the deceased, with a commitment to a thorough investigation encompassing all aspects.
The unfortunate event has underscored concerns regarding safety protocols at construction sites, particularly emphasizing the importance of ensuring the quality and regular inspection of protective equipment used by workers in high-rise projects. Other laborers at the site have voiced grievances about inadequate safety measures contributing to the accident that claimed the lives of their colleagues.
This incident echoes a similar tragedy from a few months ago when two laborers lost their lives due to a scaffolding collapse at a construction site in Sector-142, Noida.
