Two drug peddlers were apprehended in the Awantipora area of J&K’s Pulwama district with contraband seized from them, as per a police statement. The individuals, Junaid Tariq and Mubashir Ahmad Wani, were intercepted during a naka checking operation. A substantial amount of contraband substance was found in their possession, leading to their arrest and the seizure of their motorcycle.
The arrested individuals, along with the seized motorcycle, are now part of a case registered under the NDPS Act at PS Awantipora. The police, under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, are committed to combating the drug menace and have urged public cooperation in this endeavor. Investigations into the matter are ongoing to address the issue effectively.
In J&K, law enforcement agencies are actively engaged in anti-smuggling operations to combat various illegal activities, including drug trafficking and hawala money racketeering. It is suspected that the proceeds from such illicit operations are channeled to support terrorism in the region. The army and Border Security Force are vigilant at the LoC and International Border to prevent drug smuggling, infiltration, exfiltration, and drone-related activities from across the border.
