Two habitual offenders, wanted in a theft case, were apprehended in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, after a police exchange of fire. One of the offenders sustained injuries during the retaliatory firing. The arrests were made by the Babina Police following a theft incident on June 29.
Addressing the media, Sadar Circle Officer Priya Singh stated that the police had been vigilant in uncovering thefts and recovering stolen items in the area. The arrest operation, conducted jointly by the Babina Police Station staff and a Special Operations Group team, led to the apprehension of the accused individuals.
The injured offender, identified as Kader from Rajasthan’s Dholpura, was taken for medical treatment. The other arrested individual, Riyasat from Jalon, Uttar Pradesh, was also identified. Police recovered stolen gold and silver jewelry, along with cash and firearms, related to the alleged robbery under the Babina Police Station’s jurisdiction.
Investigations are ongoing, with the forensic team examining the crime scene. In a separate incident, Mathura Police arrested two history-sheeters and murder suspects after an encounter. The accused sustained leg injuries during the police firing and were hospitalized for treatment. The police acted in self-defense when the suspects fired at them while attempting to escape.
